Here is the first and only Saturday Night ODS pick this season:
NEW ORLEANS (12,88666697) over Dallas (10,69538904)
(Sidebar: If the Saints win this one (and I feel like they will) I guarantee you they will go 16-0. You heard me: guarantee. Now granted I’m not exactly going out on a limb (their next opponents: Tampa Bay and Carolina), but besides the obvious ramifications of going undefeated there is more to this story. The Patriots 16-0 season will be just another record. All the emotions I felt when the Pats pulled it of in ’07 won’t mean nearly as much anymore. It was an event of epic proportions at the time and now only two years later it may become just another dot in the NFL’s rich history. This Saturday could be a sad day for Patriot nation.)
(Sidebar of the sidebar: Also it will put this whole decade of professional football into perspective. We could have three undefeated regular seasons in the span of two years. Think about that for a second. Prior to ’07 it had only been done once and now THREE TIMES IN TWO YEARS (sorry I just had to go all caps there). I know I might be getting ahead of myself here, but this could ring in a new era of football. I don’t exactly know what kind of era, but we are about to find out soon.)
